Main organizersProfessor Marcelo Milrad, Linnaeus University, Sweden Marcelo Milrad is a Full Professor of Media Technology at the Department of Computer Science, School of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics, at Linnaeus University (LNU) in Sweden. He is also the director of the Center for Learning and Knowledge Technologies (CeLeKT). His current research interests include the design of learning environments to support learning about complex domains, collaborative discovery learning and the development of mobile and wireless applications to support collaborative learning. Dr Milrad teaches undergraduate courses in media technology and computer science with a special focus on XML, web 2.0 and mobile technologies. He teaches also doctoral courses in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning. Professor Milrad has published over 120 articles in international journals, refereed conferences, books and technical reports. He has also been presenting and giving lectures about his work in more than 30 countries worldwide. During the last years he has been serving as a program committee member in a number of international scientific conferences such as CSCL, ICALT, WMTE, IRIS and CELDA. He is also an editorial board member in five scientific journals in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning. Dr Milrad has acted as an executive member of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Learning Technology (LTTC) and he is one of the initiators of the IEEE International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Technologies in Education (WMTE). During 2007, he was one of the steering committee members of the Mobile Learning SIG, a research activity that was part of the European Network of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning Kaleidoscope. Prior to entering LNU, Professor Milrad has been working at Växjö University, the Research Corporation for Media and Communication Technologies, the Institute for Media Technology (IMT), the Center for Human-Computer Studies (CMD) at Uppsala University, Sweden and the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. During the last 15 years, Dr. Milrad has been directly involved in the design and development of multimedia based learning environments both in schools, universities and in industrial settings. Professor Sanna Järvelä, University of Oulu, Finland PhD Sanna Järvelä is a professor in the field of learning and educational technology and a head of the Learning and Educational Technology Research Unit (LET) (http://www.let.oulu.fi/) in the Department of Educational Sciences, University of Oulu. Her main research interest deal with learning processes in technology-based and virtual learning environments, social and motivational processes in learning, self-regulated and computer supported collaborative learning. Järvelä has been an invited expert in different national (e.g. Ministry of Education) and international expert commissions (e.g. OECD and scientific organizations) as well keynote speaker in international conferences (e.g. EARLI). During the year 2000-2001 she was visiting scholar in Kings’ College London, UK. She is a co-editor of Learning and Instruction and an editorial board member in several scientific journals (e.g. iCSCL, Educational Research Review). She has acted as an external examiner of several dissertations in Finland and abroad (e.g. The Netherlands, Hong Kong). Järvelä has published more than 80 scientific papers in international refereed journals and several book chapters and two edited books. She is currently a member of Executive Committee of EARLI and a member of Oulu University Board.Associate Professor Tessy Cerratto Pargman, Stockholm University, Sweden Teresa Cerratto Pargman is associated professor of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) at Stockholm University (SU ), Sweden since February 2003. She is together with Professor Sanna Järvela and Professor Marcelo Milrad scientifc coordinator of the LEAF research network funded ny Nordforsk. From 2007 Teresa is also scientific responsible for the program " IT-Communication Science" held by DSV.Teresa is interested in the relationship between writing and technology from socio-cultural perspectives of literacy and tool use. In particular, she works with a focus on design, adoption and use of technologies for reflective and collaborative purposes. She received her doctoral education at the University of Paris VIII, Department of cognition and work-oriented activities and at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Lyon, France. Teresa has published over 50 articles in international journals, refereed conferences, books and technical reports . During the last years she has been serving as a program committee member in a number of international scientific conferences and as reviewer in international journals such as " International Journal of Learning, Media and Technology", "Révue Européenne de Psychologie Aplliquée" and "Journal of Human- Computer Studies"., " Mobile Social Media for Learning and Education in Formal and Informal settings", WMUTE 2010, INTERACT , NORDICHI, ICCE among others.
